This device is great when it works. The green light is a bit dim but that is OK. However, the device started to malfunction only after half a semester. First, the prev button acted as next and the next stopped working. Then the receiver was off completely. I thought I could just use it as a pointer. Surely. My only trouble is how to turn it off. I examined the electronics. It is probably due to cheap and crapy pushbuttons and circuit. Recommendation: buy a red laser remote from Logitech. The light is dim red. But it last for years.

This is an incredible insightful and very helpful magazine from cover to cover. It doesn't have those smelly perfume ads that I cannot wait to rip out of all those other magazines before sneezing and wheezing. I look forward to getting my monthly subscription and put aside whatever I am reading at that moment to read ShopSmart. Great interesting and full of great tips and ideas

These are high quality headphones whose main drawbacks are some driver issues and immature product support. For a new product such as this those negatives aren't unexpected. Sound quality was great, ease of use was also great. Installation went smoothly but crashed at the very end, although without seeming to have an impact on performance. The surround aspect is fairly gimmicky but the noise isolation is good. The odd implementation of the off switch (hold on for five seconds however the light will stay on), having to dig through menus to switch between headphones and speakers and some incompatibility issues with media playback were annoying and in the case of the incompatibility issues a potential dealbreaker if the driver issues cannot be resolved.

Overall, these are great headphones, with clear sound, plenty of volume and a comfortable fit that remained comfortable during use.

This headset is a combined microphone and over-the-ear headphones. The unit is wireless, and functions with a transceiver plugged either directly into the computer USB port, or plugged into the 'puck' that doubles as wire storage. The headset is battery-powered and is recharged by plugging its 'puck' wires into the USB port and into the headset.

Headphones: The unit feels solid and is comfortable to wear, with a soft cushion on the headband and soft ear surrounds. The sound inside the ear cups seems to be great, with music and voices sounding natural. The bass is low without being boomy and muddled. There is very little sound leakage when listening at normal volume.

Regarding the 7.1 effect -- I wondered how they could do that with just the ear cup. The installation CD has a test WAV file that demonstrates all of the channels. And sure enough, I could head the difference between the back surrounds, left and right surround, and the front channels. I don't know whether they do this with sound delay, or by placing the drivers in the ear cup, but it's noticeable with their demo. I also watched a portion of the movie Pearl Harbor to see if it could reproduce the full 7.1 movie track. The LFE channel was impressive for headphones, but I have to admit that I really could not distinguish surround from front channels. The effect was there, but very subtle. This is with the default settings -- I could have tried playing with the software to tweak channel volumes.

Microphone: The microphone on this headset is high quality. Voice sounds very natural, I was impressed. The auto-mute was pretty sensitive and only cut off milliseconds of your first words when speaking. The microphone can only be used on the left side of the headset - it is not reversible.

Software: The CD must be installed on your computer to be able to use the 7.1 surround feature and to program the G-keys. I did run into a snag with it when installing - my computer is older and has an Athlon XP3200+ processor running Windows XP. When I tried to install the CD, it would not continue with a message that said that the processor is not powerful enough for the software. I wrote to Logitech about somehow bypassing the CPU check, but I don't have an answer yet. The software did install OK on a laptop with a faster processor running Windows Vista.

The software also has a fun toy in it that lets you morph your voice with several choices of Alien, Giant, Gremlin, Chipmunk, and others. It also has an equalizer panel and its own volume and mic gain control. You can control the volume individually on each of the 7 channels as well - so I think you could fine tune your own setup so that you can really distinguish between the back and front channels. There are also preset for several types of voice software, like Ventrilo, Skype, etc.

"G keys": There are three buttons on the side of the headset that you can assign different functions in their software. For example, assign them as FF, PLAY, RW buttons for Windows Media Player.

Regarding the 'gaming' aspect, I could not test it with any PC games. It was not clear to me that this headset was only for the PC. I assumed since it has a USB plug that it would work for console systems, but no. I used to play World of Warcraft though, and I think this headset would work well with it. If you like PC games and need the sound field of a 7.1 system without waking up the neighbors, I recommend this headset. If your use is limited to only stereo music or Skype type applications, I think I would look for something cheaper.
